Smash!

I saw this car like this yesterday, not sure when it happened, but i think it was when i thought i had another episode of exploding head syndrome that i have been having randomly since quitting cymbalta. Guess it wasn't, and was this. This car rarely moves, at least i haven't seen it in other spots, but whatever hit it caused it to go up on the curb. I'm guessing drunk driver, or someone just not paying attention. This road bugs me, or the drivers do, as they will swerve way out around cars parked into your lane. There are no lane markers, but it's not hard to not do that. The road itself is pretty wide. Which surprises me even more that this happened.

St. Patricks Day, downtown

Just another shot of main street looking north on Saint Patrick's day. Sadly it's not been as warm, dropped down into the 30's during the day. Hasn't snowed like they predicted, thankfully. They closed this whole stretch for several hours, and allowed drinking on the street during that time. Not really my thing, and the sun was setting here, hard to tell but it was almost down.

Beds will Roll 2

This is another picture from the Beds Will Roll event, and i didn't notice her expression or that she was pointing at the broken wheel when i took this. They didn't do too well as you may have guessed. Came in third from what i heard, while the one in the day before below in front came in first.

Beds will Roll

This is one of the pictures of the mattresses from the Beds Will Roll event that took place on Saint Patrick's day downtown. More people than i thought around when the street was closed. It was a gorgeous day, over 60F, sunny, and lovely. Almost April weather and not what it normally is.

Bo's & Mine Saint Patrick's Day

I went out "early" to try and get some photos of the mattress races today, and while i did get some, i thought i'd post this one i took at Bo's & Mine downtown. It took quite a bit of searching to find an empty table, the pace was packed like i couldn't believe. I knew there would be people, but not so many and not so crazy. This was actually my fist time there, and while i enjoyed the food, i prefer it quieter. I'm sure it's not so bad when it's not something like this, as bad as the crowd was inside, there were more people outside.

Dreary Weather

While the snow is mostly gone, the weather has been gloomy and dreary. I like rain, generally, but it's made it feel colder than it really is and i'm also still waiting for the last big snow before my birthday. It seems to always happen later in March, so i'm waiting. This image was taken at a gas station at the northern part of town with a fish eye lens. It does give the feeling of how it's felt lately. It was a bit foggy this day, although in town not as much out of town.

Welcome sign

One of the welcome signs in town, this one next to Perkins on the north side. I realized i hadn't taken any of any of the signs of the city, so i'm going to try and get them. Took this with a fisheye lens, so you can see how the weather has been for a while now, cold, wet, foggy and dreary. The good part is that, while it's wet, it's rain, not snow. I'm tired of winter now, spring can't come fast enough. I also can't wait until green starts popping up, other than the odd evergreen or green-ish grass spot.

Kinnickinnic River Sign

This is the sign for the Kinnickinnic River where i took the other river photo. Nothing too thrilling really, just like how it looked.

Kinnickinnic River

This is the Kinnickinnic River, taken again with the holga lens mod, looking north at the point where it crosses County Road MM. Not the most thrilling, and yes, this also shows how small a town this is as it's only two blocks from the road that runs right through town. It's been colder than it has been lately, and while i'm glad it's warming up, i really miss green being on the trees and just seeing brown bare trees. That's probably a month away, but it's nice to see the changes starting, mostly being the snow melting a little bit at least.

"Dream" house

Since the weather was nice out today, i decided to drive around and try and get some photos. I also had my holga lens on my digital camera, and yes i do get a funny kick about using something so cheap on something high tech. I also came across my dream house, or at least one version of it. In the woods, off the main roads, is this awesome structure. Not sure how well you can tell, but there is a main house to the left, and what was probably a barn and a silo that has been 'altered'. There is a room on top of a silo, and a barn that seems to be finished so it is weather proof. I am so curious what it's like in there, and the view from the room on the silo. I'm sure they get tons of comments on it, so i doubt i will ever get up the courage to ask them. Still, if i ever win the lottery, or get stinking rich, this is probably what my house will look like.

Glacier

So there i was, exploring the glacier... okay, kidding, it's not. It's just an area of pretty deep snow (this was over a foot deep, close to two feet) that had melted back but reminded me of a glacier. Maybe i was influenced by a recent Nova episode on glaciers, which was very interesting, especially the time lapse video. It's been nicely warm, for us at least, in the 40f area. I'm not relaxing though, i know from living here too long that there will most likely be a big snow storm that puts a lot of snow back on the ground. I should post a picture of that, those late march or early april snow storms.

Meanwhile, there are people running around without jackets and wearing shorts. This is weather that is at most 50F. Yep, nordic people moved here originally.
