Unity in the Community 2009
This is a Tibetan dancer at an event in town on Wednesday called Unity in the Community, which the paper described as "Local and regional music, poetry and dance artists will perform and cultural food will be available for purchase." It was supposed to be in Veterans Park, but due to cold rain it was moved to the Library. I won't link to the article, as the comments got pretty rude and petty. The event itself was pretty interesting with some wonderful people. I took a lot of photos and will probably be posting several of the different events. This dancer did a great job, her outfit was wonderful and she performed well to recorded music.

Mourning doves in rain
These two mourning doves were just sitting on my (bad condition) deck railing during the rain yesterday. I've said it before, and i'll say it again, i love these birds. They are one of my favorites, can't really say way but i love seeing them and watching them do what they do. I love all the birds really, even the grackles, and i know i have a woodpecker as i've heard it, and only seen it once, but never caught it on camera.

White Kinnickinnic Pathway
This is the northern end of the park where the other park pictures were taken, but on a different day. I think you can kind of tell the trees are starting to get buds on them and turning a bit green. It's nice to see green and spring like weather, even if it did hail the other day after a record high. Don't ask me how to pronounce Kinnickinnic, i can say it, but no idea how to put it in type. Not so bad once you say it a couple times, being the river that runs through town.

Tired or warm?
I noticed this guy on my deck, i couldn't tell if he was tired or just too warm, as yesterday got in the high 80s. I'm sure the fur doesn't help cooling down if you still have winter fur. I was starting to worry that it was sick or dead, but after a while it got up and looked for food. Pretty cute though resting on the railing.

Water Tower
This is one of the water towers in town, up on a bluff near the hospital, and in a strange housing development. Kind of strange in that there are a lot of houses in it, but it has only one way in or out, under an overpass of the highway. I guess that wouldn't be a problem unless everyone doesn't have to get in or out at the same time or something happens to the overpass that prevents passage. Back to the water tower, i enjoy the different types, but this is what i think is the most average right now, although i prefer the looks of older ones. Maybe because that is what i grew up with.

Bird
I heard a "thump...flapp...flapp..." the other day behind me in the kitchen, and when i looked to see if a bird had hit the window and was okay. This is the bird, and it did seem okay, if not a little dazed and confused. It watched me taking pictures although it did seem kind of cautious about what i was up to.

Hospital and Clinic
This is the local hospital and clinic, where i tend to spend too much time at while doctors try and figure out what is going on. I have to admit something i miss about living in LaCrosse, there were two very good Clinics there with very good doctors and was only about an hour from Rochester, Minnesota where the Mayo Clinic was. It's surprisingly hard to find more obscure health care in smaller towns and not being sure which ones are good at what you need.

Miniature horses
I saw these miniature horses yesterday on a farm on the edge of town (River Falls is pretty small and does have farms in the city and right on the edge of town). River Falls seems to be a hub of horses for some reason, with lots of people who have them and places that board them just outside of the city. I had the telephoto lens with me when i took this, and thought the grey one looked pretty. On a closer look though, i got both sad and upset that it looks like they aren't taken very good care of, although a part of that could be shedding of winter fur.

Happy Easter
It's easter today, so i thought i would post a picture of one of my bunnies, this is Kitty Bunny. She's sweet, but pretty feisty, must come from being the smallest of the all.
Although i love the bunns, i don't think they make good easter gifts, they live a long time and need affection. The best easter bunnies are chocolate.

Mourning doves
Snow stopped and melted quickly, which was nice, so here are two of the mourning doves that seem to like hanging out on my deck. I've said before, i love the sound they make, and love watching them. I know i have at least two pairs that hang out, and i always seem to see them in pairs along with the cardinals.

Snow in April
I went outside after movie night to see snow coming down, this morning it's actually kind of deep on the grass. I know it snows in April, and even later some times, but it's not really what you want to see most of the time. The weather reports say it's going to keep snowing off and on through monday. I guess the good point is that it's actually spring, so warmer weather is near, along with tornado chances. Good with the bad i guess.
