Old truck

This is an older photo, but one i had thought i had lost due to a hard drive crash and other computer troubles, but found it on a back up disc. The odd thing is i haven't been able to find this since. I originally found this while randomly driving around town and the edge of town, but since this was actually a couple of years ago, i'm thinking maybe they removed it. The more i look at it, the more it looks like a mail truck, but i keep thinking it looks like an ice cream truck for some reason. This is a fitting photograph as the last week or so (more than a week actually) has been very stressful with a family member in the hospital, and other more easily fixed troubles. If only people were as easy to fix as cars and computers, and you can always replace those, not loved ones.

Unity in the Community 2009, part 7

This is a drummer i forget the name of, he also played a harp type instrument, and made the drums by hand. I looked for a program to get the names and descriptions of the people, but couldn't find one while there, and i haven't found one online, sorry, so i'm going by memory.

Unity in the Community 2009, part 6

This is the poet laureate of, well, i hate to admit i forgot that, and his name. Sorry. He read a poem though that was nice. I wasn't feeling too well and had to head home at this point.

Unity in the Community, Part 5

This is the group from Mariachi Loco, where i had an awesome burrito and sadly missed the belly dancer. Still, it was worth it, being an awesome burrito. To the left is where you could get egg rolls from the Asian American student association. I was tempted to try those too, but the burrito was quite big and filling.

Unity in the Community part 4

These lovely ladies were doing Bollywood dancing, not many pictures of them turned out too well, as the lighting wasn't as good as it seems in the pictures, but they did a great job.

Unity in the Community 2009, part 3

These are dancers at the Unity in the Community event. I'm not exactly sure what the dance was about, but it was interesting. They had garbage bags that they moved around and did a great job with their moves.

Unity in the Community 2009, part 2

These were people demonstrating a Korean martial art that i forgot the name of. These were very fun to take pictures of, trying to capture the action, but i also could have probably used a faster lens as it was darker than i expected. Although i do like the way the action is blurred in a lot of them with other areas clearer. This group also broke blocks and used swords, although that made me a little nervous about being in the front row.

Unity in the Community 2009

This is a Tibetan dancer at an event in town on Wednesday called Unity in the Community, which the paper described as "Local and regional music, poetry and dance artists will perform and cultural food will be available for purchase." It was supposed to be in Veterans Park, but due to cold rain it was moved to the Library. I won't link to the article, as the comments got pretty rude and petty. The event itself was pretty interesting with some wonderful people. I took a lot of photos and will probably be posting several of the different events. This dancer did a great job, her outfit was wonderful and she performed well to recorded music.

Front step

Not sure why i'm posting a picture of the rabbit who watches my front door, i think i haven't taken any other new ones recently.

Other Mural

This is another mural in town, in fact it's near the odd multi-colored statue in Veterans Park that i had a picture of before. Like that one, i'm not exactly sure what is supposed to be going on here, besides lots of colors.

Mourning doves in rain

These two mourning doves were just sitting on my (bad condition) deck railing during the rain yesterday. I've said it before, and i'll say it again, i love these birds. They are one of my favorites, can't really say way but i love seeing them and watching them do what they do. I love all the birds really, even the grackles, and i know i have a woodpecker as i've heard it, and only seen it once, but never caught it on camera.

White Kinnickinnic Pathway

This is the northern end of the park where the other park pictures were taken, but on a different day. I think you can kind of tell the trees are starting to get buds on them and turning a bit green. It's nice to see green and spring like weather, even if it did hail the other day after a record high. Don't ask me how to pronounce Kinnickinnic, i can say it, but no idea how to put it in type. Not so bad once you say it a couple times, being the river that runs through town.

City Hall again

Here is the new city hall, coming along nicely, although i'm not sure when it's supposed to be done.

Tired or warm?

I noticed this guy on my deck, i couldn't tell if he was tired or just too warm, as yesterday got in the high 80s. I'm sure the fur doesn't help cooling down if you still have winter fur. I was starting to worry that it was sick or dead, but after a while it got up and looked for food. Pretty cute though resting on the railing.
