I remember...I have not seen parking meters in ages. I remember when they first came around here. The downtowns were dotted with them and they even hired a parking meter maid to collect the money. Then, new stores opened at the edge of the city and the people went to them. Plenty of free parking. The merchants downtown saw their business decline as did the parking meter maids. In the end, the parking meters came out and the business never has returned. Tough lesson to teach city planners and managers.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
